Mary Penley
Hi, my name is Mary Penley and I
joined Radio Hillingdon in September 2007. I first
came across Radio Hillingdon when I was an in-patient
in the hospital myself listening on my bedside
terminal! I have always loved radio so joining Radio
Hillingdon is a way of giving back to the hospital
that saved my life and of learning new skills. It is a
great team of people, all giving their time for free
to provide a service which we hope you enjoy. I like
most styles of music including jazz and classical, and
in my dim distant past I was directly involved with
the rock music industry (my hearing isn’t 'too' much
affected!). I also love meeting people and listening
to their stories, and so enjoy taking part in the road
shows and reporting on local issues.
I currently present the Tuesday evening Request Show from
8.30 -10pm, with a repeat show on Wednesdays from 1.30 -
3pm. I enjoy visiting the wards meeting patients, their
friends and families and collecting requests.
Its great to get your feedback and know you appreciate what
we do. Especially as in our 40th year, family members can
dedicate a piece of music, then listen at home via our
website streaming to the show going out live and hear their
request.
